Antique Pietra Dura pendant with gold bail, c. 1880s.
An impressive oval shaped pendant features a lovely floral scene and a 19ct (tested) gold bail.
In this hand crafted piece, the floral scene features colours of white, green, blue, red, yellow and brown, all set in black onyx.
Pietra Dura is a precisely cut hard stones with a carefully chosen colour palette which are arranged to form a pattern, typically set within a panel of black marble or onyx, then polished and buffed to a high shine.
The stone inlay work is so finely crafted, that it looks like a painting.
This quality usually makes Pietra Dura more valuable than other mosaic work.
Great antique condition - a tiny chip at the top of pendant where the gold bail is attached (please refer to the photos), which isn't noticeable. No other chips, or cracks.
No hallmarks present.
