Antique Japanese Satsuma earthenware lidded teapot from Meiji period (c.1880s).
The scene depicted on the teapot is: a family visiting one of the lakes around Mountain Fuji.
The background is cobalt blue with gilding.
The signature at the bottom names the maker Maruni.
It is a collectible and unique item which represents the beauty of the Japanese art.
Very good antique condition - there is a C-shaped crack at the lid (please refer to the last photos), it doesn't look like it was glued, or repaired. I can't say there are any signs that the lid might break, but it should be handled with care. The crack is almost invisible on the top side of the lid. The craquelure is present as seen on photos.
Dimensions:
Height (with lid): ∼12,5cm
Width at the widest point:∼10,8cm
