Antique Georgian enamel patch box with drawings, inscription and an inner mirror.
Oval shaped, fully covered both exterior and interior with white colour enamel.
Beautifully coloured lid with a sentimental drawing of a heart, arrows and flame and a lovely message written in French "Gage d'amitie sincere", which means "A token of sincere friendship".
All four sides of the box have differently coloured flower patterns.
The inner mirror has a slightly convex shape.
Patch boxes were popular accessories for both men and women in the eighteenth century. They were used to hold artificial beauty marks, or patches, which were applied to the face, sometimes over blemishes or smallpox scars.
Great antique condition - there is a small enamel crack on the lid (please refer to the last photo), normal signs of wear consistent with age.
