A stunning silver Blackamoor brooch in black and white enamels, also known as Venetian Moretto, c.1880s. Beautiful workmanship, meticulously detailed.

The turban is decorated with white swirls of enamel set with black enamel dots ( a little loss of the enamel). The top of turban is set with natural cabochon coral.
A central Garnet stone is mounted above the forehead.
The sword looking bar is set with natural turquoise cabochon and two micro sized enamelled Blackamoors. 
Tube hinge and C-clasp closure, typical for the period. 
A beautiful piece of wonderful quality and rarity.

Great antique condition - some minimal loss of enamel, signs of wear consistent with age and use.

Hallmarks - three hallmarks are present at the C-clasp and "patent" shield at the back of the bar.
